Biological Production dates back to the foundation of the Veterinary Medicine Institute Inc. Zemun - in 1938 it started with the production of diagnostic devices, then serums and vaccines. The initially small production grew in the course of 60 years, thanks to the skill and enthusiasm of the staff, as well as the quality of products, and evolved into a large modern production, which follows the demands of the market and keeps up with science. In 1957 the Veterinary Medicine Institute Inc. Zemun set up the first laboratory for tissue culture in former Yugoslavia, and in 1964 made the first vaccine derived from tissue culture, called 'A dry viral vaccine against Aujeszky's disease'. Biological production has in its assortment today around fifty registered products for all animal categories (vaccines for fowl, pigs, cattle, sheep, horses, rabbits, cats and dogs, diagnostic agents and other products) and is the largest production of biological preparations for veterinary use in Serbia and Montenegro, and former Yugoslavia.
